Best of 2016 – Balanced Rock Night Sky

My two trips to Big Bend National Park every year are filled with great memories. My trip last April was short on clouds so I focused more on photographing the night sky and Texas Wildflowers. I have mentioned previously that hiking Grapevine Hills Trail is one of the things I look forward to every trip. We hiked the trail early one morning to photograph the Balanced Rock with the Milky Way Galaxy then hung around for a sunrise shot. I have fond memories of this photograph as it presented many challenges. You can read more about them in my original post by clicking here.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/4, shutter speed at 20 seconds and the ISO set at 5,000. This is a single image processed in Lightroom, Photoshop and Nik Color Efex Pro.

You can see other photos of my trips to Big Bend NP here or other night sky photos here. Please use the section below to post your comments, questions or suggestions.
