This is another one of the sunset images I captured during my second night in Rockport, TX. It was taken before the photograph of The Photographer and the Sunset Colors. The sun was still quite high in the sky but I noticed this couple fishing and I thought their silhouetted bodies against the sunset made for a good photo. So, I attached a longer lens in order to get more of the golden sunset colors. It is very hard shooting into the sun with any lens but especially longer lenses as it can damage your eyes and your camera gear. So, I took a quick sequence and then went about my business photographing the scene I was planning on photographing.
I plan on returning to Rockport at some point as there are many great photography opportunities. Photographing birds in the wild is certainly a good reason to go there but what I learned during my trip is that the sunrise and sunset colors are magnificent. I plan on scouting out other locations near Rockport. Please drop me a note if you know of any special places I should visit while there.
This image was taken with my Sony Alpha A7R using my Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 Lens set on 126 mm. The camera was set on Aperture priority mode with the aperture set at f/11, shutter speed at 1/640th of a second and the ISO set at 100. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and Nik Color Efex Pro.
