Big Bend National Park is known as one of the least visited national parks in the nation. That is starting to change. During my trip to park this spring, I noticed that the park is becoming more popular. When we arrived to photograph a sunrise on Balanced Rock there was a photographer setting up for photos. That has never happened before. Hopefully more visitors equals more funding and improvements.
I have mentioned before that this location is one of my favorite locations in the park. The hike is great and the vistas are rewarding. I did some research and sought out this new vantage point. It turned out exactly as I planned. I love it when things work out this way.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/30th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed using Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.

Really nice image, Terry. One of the more creative compositions of Balanced Rock.
Thanks Rick!
