Nature’s Kaleidoscope

I have always been a big fan of kaleidoscopes so when I encountered Nature’s Kaleidoscope in the Cattail Falls area I had to photograph it. There was no water coming over the falls so the small pond at the bottom of the falls was perfectly still. I was there to photograph the Longspur Columbine that I wrote about last week and I decided to photograph this section of the wall that comprises the waterfall. I was impressed by the colors and shapes. If you happen to visit the area, I highly recommend the hike up to the falls, even if there is not waterfall.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III using my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/16, shutter speed at 1/8th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
