I photographed this Northern Shoveler during my trip to the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in the Port Aransas Nature Preserve. There was a lot of debris in the water so I thought that a closeup shot of his eye and brilliant colors was the best approach. There were about a half-dozen shovelers in the area and this one was out in the clear. The wind was very strong and it was a bit cool so they were hiding their beaks in their feathers.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 312mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/500th of a second and the ISO set at 250. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.

I really like your Pied Billed Grebe with nice light and your colorful Northern Shoveler photos. Beautiful images.
Thanks Rick!
