Foggy Fulton Pier

My first full day in Rockport, Texas last week began with a Dense Fog Weather Advisory. I was not happy about the news but I decided to go out and photograph some of the Fulton Piers located along Fulton Beach. I hoped that the fog would burn off and that the morning sun would shine but that did not happen until much later in the day. I decided to process this photograph in black and white to add more mood to the scene.

Property owners along Fulton Beach Road have their homes located on the west side of the road and their piers located across the street. Most of the piers have “Private Dock – No Trespassing” signs and/or large gates which make it nearly impossible to access the pier. This is the case for this pier.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/4, shutter speed at two seconds and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability and my Syrp Variable Neutral Density filter for a longer exposure. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
