#2 – Lost Mine Trail Sunrise
My favorite hike in all of the park is the Lost Mine Trail hike. A long, 4.8 mile round trip is very popular with park visitors. There are may Texas Wildflowers and geological formations along the trail. The number of photograph opportunities is quite large. You must allow plenty of time for the hike if planning a sunrise shot at the top of the trail.
Original Post: December 15, 2015.
Location: Lost Mine Trail. A medium range drive but a very long and strenuous hike. Must carry plenty of water, especially in the summer. The views from the top are phenomenal, especially at sunrise.
Equipment: Canon EOS 5D Mark III, my Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 Lens, tripod and a remote shutter release.
Camera Settings: Aperture Priority mode, lens at 105mm, f/5.6, 1/30th of a second, ISO 100.
Post Processing: This is a single image processed in Lightroom.
Comments: Photographing these two Common Ravens was not my initial composition. I was actually just trying to capture the majestic sunrise colors against the silhouetted ridge. It was only when they landed on the ridge that I decided to take this photo. It’s all about being in the right place at the right time.
