I mentioned in previous posts that I made a trip to Big Bend NP earlier this year. We spent most of the daytime hours either scouting sunrise, sunset or night photography sites but we also spent a fair amount of time capturing Texas Wildflower images. I was hiking down Cattail Falls Trail when I ran across this Engelmann’s Prickly Pear Cactus on the way to see Cattail Falls. I was particularly fond of this little prickly baby bud. I thought the red tips and the green fleshy parts were great colors.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III using my EF100mm f/2.8L Macro. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/16, shutter speed at 1/160 at ISO 100. I used my Canon MT-24 Flash to light the subject. This is a single image processed in Lightroom.
