I was invited to attend a wedding in Maui during the fall of 2014. The island is one of my favorite places to visit. Its lush vegetation, wonderful vistas and the plethora of activity options makes this a wonderful vacation spot for many people. The natural elements of the island are particularly appealing to me. My favorite attractions include the Haleakala volcano, the scenic drives like the road to Hanah (both the north and south route) and the Nakalele Blowhole. It was here that I spent a couple of hours shooting the blowhole when I happened on this formation with the shape of the heart. I imagined that many people come here just for this but none of the tourist I encountered knew about it. They were all happy that I pointed it out, especially a couple celebrating their anniversary. They asked me if I would take their picture. I guess I looked like a photographer… LOL
This image was taken with my SONY ILCE-7S using my FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS set on 24 mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/22, shutter speed at 1/100 at ISO 100. I probably did not need to set the aperture at f/22 but I wanted to make sure it was all in focus. I processed this one in Photomatix as an HDR image and then finished it up in Photoshop.
