I had the opportunity to travel to Maui in the spring of 2015. What a wonderful island. I spent time hiking the trails near the Pools at Ohe’o along the Pipiwai Stream, through the wonderful bamboo forest and ending at the Waimoku Falls. The hike took a while and was uphill all the way to the falls. I went early in the day so it was cool. I also spent some time taking sunset pictures from a rocky peninsula between Kapalua Bay and Namalu Bay. The wet stones combined with the wonderful sunset colors made for a great image.
This image was taken on a tripod and I used my Sony A7 II with my Sony FE 24-70mm F4 ZA OSS set on 24 mm. The camera was set on Aperture priority mode with the apperture set at f/22, shutter speed at 3.2 seconds and the ISO setting was 50. I also used my Lee Filters (which I dropped in the ocean, twice!) to smooth out the water and give the silky effect. Post processing was mostly done in Lightroom with some work done in Photoshop. I also used some plugins from the Nik collection (Color Efex Pro).
