I had the opportunity to visit the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge via a special boat rigged with platforms to house bird watchers and bird photographers. We made our way to a popular rookery where I photographed this Great Blue Heron landing on it’s nesting area. The winds were from the right direction and we were able to photograph these magnificent birds as they came and went. I will post more photos of Great Blue Heron in the days ahead.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 234mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/5.6, shutter speed at 1/1600th of a second and the ISO set at 125. I hand-held the camera for this image. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
