When I arrived in Gold Point, Nevada for a night photography workshop, we were instructed to meet in the Gold Point Saloon for our lectures. It was the only building in the famous ghost town where a group of people could meet. Perhaps it was that way in the old mining days. We arranged our chars in front of the stage and I was constantly distracted by the number of objects on the stage, so as soon as our class was over, I grabbed my camera and photographed the scene. The saloon is open most days so I recommend checking out all the historic items they have collected there.
In May, 1908 a post office was established in Gold Point and before long, the residents organized a chamber of commerce and numerous businesses sprouted up, including as many as 13 saloons. This one is the only one that survived.
This image was taken with my Sony A7R II using my Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1.3 seconds and the ISO set at 5000. I used a tripod for this photo. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed it in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
