I have posted many photographs if the Ladder-Backed Woodpecker. It is one of my favorite birds. I photographed this woodpecker at the Pedernales Falls State Park bird blind. Woodpeckers are hard to photograph in the wild and the bird blind offers great opportunities to both see and photograph birds. I highly recommend a visit to the park and the bird blind. It’s especially a great place for children to learn about our Texas wildlife.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 400mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/6.3, shutter speed at 1/1000th of a second and the ISO set at 400. This is a single image processed in Lightroom then finalized in Photoshop using Color Efex Pro.
