Big Bend Ranch La Cuesta Sunset

A long exposure of a Big Bend Ranch La Cuesta Sunset using neutral density filters. I like to make a stop here when visiting the Big Bend area to photograph the sunset, La Cuesta is one of the few accessible areas along the Rio Grande with boulders, a sunset and a decent water flow. This spot is located just off of Farm to Market Road 170, approximately 14 miles west of Lajitas, The water volume on the Rio Grande was very low for this time of year. Lack of rain and agricultural needs diminish the water volume in the park. The local tour guides and kayak and canoe operators are struggling to stay in business due to the low water flow.

This image was taken with my Sony A7R V using my Sony FE 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/11, shutter speed at 32 seconds, and ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and a 6-stop Neutral Density Lee Filter to extend the exposure time. I processed the image in Lightroom and completed it in Photoshop using Nik 7 Color Efex.
