Old Plymouth

I photographed this Old Plymouth along Road Runner Road in Study Butte (Terlingua, TX) during my recent trip to visit Big Bend National Park. I’ve always been interested in finding new locations to photograph the night sky in the area and this vehicle was a pleasant find. I’m not sure which year and model this is but my guess is late 40’s or early 50’s.

Old Plymouth

This image was taken with my Sony A7R V using my Sigma 14mm f/1.4 DG DN Art Lens. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/2.8, shutter speed at 25 seconds, and ISO set at 5000. I lit the outside of the vehicle with my Coast HP7R flashlight (permitted in the national parks) and the inside of the vehicle with a tea light. I used a tripod for stability given the long exposure. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using the latest version of Topaz AI to reduce the noise produced by the high ISO.

  1. I like the setting and composition. Good guess on the old Plymouth. It’s either 1951 or 1952, there was hardly any difference in those two years. And it’s a 2-door station wagon, which I don’t think was very common.

    1. Thanks Tom. It was hard to tell so that information is very helpful. I did notice some comments online about the two-door wagon.
