Another photograph from my 2018 trip to the the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park. I encountered this Yellowstone American Bison while traversing the North Entrance Road (Highway 212) near the Soda Butte Creek. The American Bison is an amazing animal and an icon of the park. Visitors flock to the park to see the large herds and to observe them in action.
The Yellowstone American Bison herd in is one of the oldest and largest public bison herd in the United States. The herd was estimated in 2015 to be about 4,900 bison.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 400mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/5.6, shutter speed at 1/1000th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I hand-held the camera for this image. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
