A Red-shouldered Hawk photographed in a wooded area near my home in the winter of 2015. Red-shouldered Hawks frequent this area and they are very difficult to photograph. I often hear them but seldom see them. I really enjoy seeing these hawks and watching their behavior.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III using my Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 Lens set on 175mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/5, shutter speed at 1/500th of a second and the ISO set at 100. This is a single image processed in Lightroom.

Good catch. I love these raptors as they keep the vermin population in control.

Thanks Rick. They do control the vermin population for sure.
