I photographed this Heron at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge during my recent trip to Rockport, TX. I was there last year photographing birds from a boat. This time, I went by land. I will have to say that going by boat was overwhelmingly better than photographing by land. That said, I had fun hiking around the park where I saw alligators, snakes, songbirds and marine birds like this Heron. The trail I was on when I photographed this bird was the Big Tree Trail where I saw the “Big Tree” which was not as big as the other big tree I saw.
This image was taken with my Canon EOS 7D Mark II using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 II Lens set on 400mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f/7.1, shutter speed at 1/640th of a second and the ISO set at 250. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.
