Great Egret Shadow

Another photograph from my trip to the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge located near Rockport, TX. This Great Egret shadow was cast by the rising sun on our second day photographing birds in the park. One of the advantages of photographing birds in the early hours is the soft light cast by the rising sun. Birds tend to move about early in the day to forage for food. This Great Egret was coming in for a landing in the rookery where our boat was anchored. I posted a similar photograph last March. You can click here to view that photograph.

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS using my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L II Lens set on 400 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f/8, shutter speed at 1/2000th of a second and the ISO set at 400. This was a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro..
