Following a very nice dinner at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel Dining Room<\/a>, we headed out to Yellowstone Lake to capture a Yellowstone sunset. We drove to the eastern side of the lake and went up to the Lake Butte overlook. Lake Butte is an 8,700-foot mountain in the Yellowstone National Park. The wind was blowing very hard and we struggled with camera vibrations from the wind. I was also worried that the trees in the foreground were going to be moving. I was lucky and there is very little if any movement in the branches.<\/p>\n

Yellowstone Lake is the largest body of water in Yellowstone National Park. The lake is 7,732 feet above sea level and covers 136 square miles. It is the largest freshwater lake above 7,000 feet in North America. Three feet of ice covers much of the lake in the winter. It freezes over in December and can remain frozen until early June.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5DS<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 16-35mm f\/4 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 27\u00a0mm. The camera was set on Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/10, shutter speed at 1\/8th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a sturdy tripod to create a solid foundation. This is a single image processed\u00a0in Lightroom then finalized in\u00a0Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
