I posted an image yesterday of the Milky Way Galaxy over Balanced Rock<\/a> that I photographed in Big Bend National park earlier this year. This image of another sunrise on Big Bend is from the Lost Mine Trail, another one of my favorite hikes in the park. We arrived before sunrise and setup our gear\u00a0in order to capture the great orange and red hues of a high altitude sunrise. The clouds and sky did not disappoint. I was able to get a good vantage point for this photograph. I posted a similar image<\/a>\u00a0last December.<\/p>\n

Camera Sensor Technology<\/h4>\n

Camera sensor technology has come a very long way. If you click on the image above and enlarge it you will notice some very faint dots in the center of the image. I would normally eliminate these in photoshop but I left them there to prove a point about today’s digital camera sensors. Those dots are actually the headlamps and flashlights of two of my photography buddies (shown enlarged and brightened on the left)\u00a0that hiked a bit farther up the trail to photograph the sunrise against\u00a0the opposing canyon wall. I boosted the exposure in that section of the image so you could see how much detail still exists in even the darkest areas of the image.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5D Mark III<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 24-105mm f\/4 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 60\u00a0mm. The camera was set on\u00a0Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/5.6, shutter speed at 1\/6th of a second and the ISO set at 100. This is a panorama made from a series of six images brought together into a single image and then processed all in\u00a0Lightroom.<\/p>\n
