{"id":9422,"date":"2016-08-27T04:00:25","date_gmt":"2016-08-27T09:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/?p=9422"},"modified":"2020-12-22T14:00:30","modified_gmt":"2020-12-22T20:00:30","slug":"storm-over-austin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/storm-over-austin\/","title":{"rendered":"Storm Over Austin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Photographing outdoors has been a challenge in the recent weeks due to the sweltering heat and frequent rain so it was great to finally get out and photograph. I keep an eye out for the weather and I noticed that storm clouds might be building on the eastern side of the city earlier this week. So, a friend and I loaded up our gear and headed out to one of our favorite spots to photograph the storm over Austin. This time, mother nature cooperated and gave us a nice show, including some color in the upper clouds. We were afraid that the storm clouds were going to block the sun but it all turned out as planned.<\/p>\n<p>I decided in advance that I was going to use my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhphotovideo.com\/c\/product\/689699-REG\/Giga_Pan_EPIC_PRO_EPIC_Pro_Robotic_Camera.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GigaPan Epic Pro<\/a> panorama head to capture a highly detailed panorama of the area. I ended up with a &#8220;medium&#8221; resolution image that totaled 277 megapixels and weighed in at 3.3 gigabytes. To say the least my poor computer churned and chugged as I stitched together the multi-row panorama (3 rows by 5 images each) and then did my usual post processing work. I am hoping to go out soon and try this again. The camera was set on\u00a0Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/4, shutter speed at 1\/25th of a\u00a0second and the ISO set at 100. I used my <a href=\"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/glossary\/gigapan-epic-pro\/\">GigaPan Epic Pro<\/a> panorama head to capture\u00a0a multi-row panorama composed of 15 images (3 rows of 5). I stitched the panorama together\u00a0in Lightroom and I finalized the image\u00a0in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n<p>This image is best viewed large.
