{"id":9198,"date":"2016-08-13T04:00:35","date_gmt":"2016-08-13T09:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/?p=9198"},"modified":"2020-12-22T14:01:40","modified_gmt":"2020-12-22T20:01:40","slug":"santa-elena-sunrise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/santa-elena-sunrise\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa Elena Sunrise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of my favorite spots, and one of the most geologically dramatic areas in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/bibe\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Bend National Park<\/a>, is the Santa Elena Canyon area. The canyon is a dividing point between the United States and Mexico. The Rio Grande passes through the canyon and continues on towards the Gulf of Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>This photograph was taken during my last visit to the park. As I have said before, sometimes the best photo is behind you. This was the case that morning. The canyon photo was not very dramatic so I turned around and saw the soft sunrise glow in the sky and the reflection of the sky on the river and decided that it was the better photograph. The camera was set on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/glossary\/aperture-priority\/\">Aperture priority<\/a>\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/8, shutter speed at 1\/250th of a\u00a0second and the ISO set at 100.
