I have posted a few Colorado River sunset images in the past including one with the Pennybacker Bridge<\/a>. This is another image from the same series but without the starburst and the bridge. What attracted me to this area is the reflection of the trees and the sky in the water. I look at these trees every time\u00a0I drive over the bridge. This photograph was taken last January when the trees had no leaves. I think the reflection looks much better that way as the leaves block the reflection of the sky.<\/p>\n

The Colorado River measures 862 miles in length and is the 18th longest river in the United States. It is also the longest river with both its source and its mouth within Texas. The river originates south of Lubbock, flows through the Highland Lakes and empties into Matagorda Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. The river, which means “red” or “reddish” river in Spanish was frequently confused by Spanish explorers with the Brazos River to the north. The Colorado River was actually named the Brazos River. There was so much confusion that they reversed the names to accommodate this fact.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5DS<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 16-35mm f\/4 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 35\u00a0mm. The camera was set on Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/20, shutter speed at 1\/5th of a\u00a0second and the ISO set at 100.\u00a0This is a panorama\u00a0image stitched together from four images and processed in Lightroom and Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
