One of the things I enjoy about my spring trips to Big Bend National Park<\/a> is photographing\u00a0Texas Wildflowers<\/a>. We stopped alongside the road during our most recent trip to the park to photograph flowers. There were quite a few flowers growing next to the road but the most prominent flower was the Yellow Bells (aka Esmeralda). I was trying to get a good photograph of the flower when a fly landed on the flower. I was amazed how sharp the fly came out. The sun was quite bright so I was able to boost the shutter speed in order to stop any movement.<\/p>\n

In the United States, the Yellow Bell (Tecoma stans<\/em>) flowers are mostly found in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Florida. Outside the US they can be found from Mexico all the way to Northern Argentina and throughout the Caribbean.\u00a0In recent years, it has become a popular landscaping plant, valued as much for its drought-tolerance as for its spectacular appearance.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5D Mark III<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 100mm f\/2.8 Macro Lens<\/a>. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/10, shutter speed at 1\/1250th of a second and the ISO set at 500. I did not use a flash to light the subject. I used Lightroom and Nik Color Efex Pro to process\u00a0the image.<\/p>\n
