One of the highlights from my trip to South Africa was my time in Cape Town<\/a>. I especially enjoyed the aerial cable car ride\u00a0up to\u00a0Table Mountain<\/a>. The views from there\u00a0are\u00a0majestic. I decided to\u00a0capture an\u00a0image of Cape Town from the overlook with my camera to post on my website, however, my widest angle lens was not wide enough to capture the full view. I then decided to try\u00a0a panorama image\u00a0so I captured\u00a0two rows of ten images each in order to emulate the view from the top.<\/p>\n

Cape Town is the third largest city in South Africa behind Durban\u00a0and Johannesburg. Its most famous area is Table Bay (seen in the distance). The entire area has a very interesting history. Vasco da Gama<\/a> recorded sighting the area in 1497. In the late 16th century\u00a0Portuguese, French, Danish, Dutch and English ships regularly stopped over in Table Bay en route to the Indies.\u00a0They traded tobacco, copper and iron with the local residents\u00a0in exchange for fresh meat. It was the Dutch who, under the leadership of Jan van Riebeeck, created a way-station on behalf of the Dutch East India Company<\/a> for ships traveling to the Dutch East Indies<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5DS<\/a> using my Canon EF 16-35mm f\/4 Lens<\/a> set on 35 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/4, shutter speed at 1\/1000th of a second and the ISO set at 100. The image was created from 20 hand-held photographs (two rows of 10 images) and brought together in Lightroom. Final processing was done in Photoshop and Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n

NOTE<\/strong>: I uploaded a 220 Mb high-resolution version of this image so you can zoom in and see the details of the city.\u00a0I recommend you only look at this image when you have a good network connection, otherwise, it will not work well. \u00a0Be patient as it will take a while to load.
