One of the great things about my trip to South Africa was\u00a0the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. It was great to wake up to a nice color palette of red, yellow and orange. It was during the second morning at the Safari Lodge that I got up a bit early and went\u00a0to a location\u00a0that was scouted out the day before. The goal was to find the iconic\u00a0“African flat tree” (I think you know the one I’m talking about) but that was not to be had. The tree in the image below was referred to by our safari guide as a “yellow tree” but the common name is Fever Tree<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Fever Tree gets its name from the first colonists who ventured into Africa. They normally camped under\u00a0trees along river banks or other bodies of water. They often fell victim to a deadly fever and they began to associate the tree with the disease. What they didn’t know was that mosquitoes breed near pools of water and they carried the deadly disease that was later named\u00a0Malaria.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5DS<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 16-35mm f\/4 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 16mm. The camera was set on\u00a0Aperture priority<\/a>\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/7.1, shutter speed at 4 seconds and the ISO set at 100.\u00a0This was a single image processed in Lightroom and Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
