Unfortunately, the weather conditions rarely cooperate. This time the sunrise was blocked by clouds and so were the Chisos Mountains (on the right side of the frame). Then, suddenly, the sun peeked out through a slit it the clouds long enough for me to take this photograph. The lesson here is to never give up. I really like this photograph and I have fond memories of the moment that I took it. I could only wish for better skies.

Original Post: November 10, 2015

Location: Glenn Springs. I think it would be worth returning when the clouds are just right. I chose f/11 to maximize Depth of Field. I chose ISO 100 to maximize sharpness. Setting the lens at 35 mm was the right setting for the composition. I could have probably reduced the aperture to f/8 to further improve sharpness. Although the composition is good, I would have benefitted from a better foreground (e.g. a nice flowering cactus).

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="4925" data-permalink="https://tkahler.com/blog/2015/11/liquid-gold/glenn-springs-sunrise/" data-orig-file="https://tkahler.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/20150414-Big-Bend-NP-Glen-Springs-Sunrise-BE.jpg" data-orig-size="1500,999" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"11","credit":"Terry B.
