This photograph was taken at the Howard Murph Memorial Park<\/a> during my recent trip to Rockport to photograph large birds. It was taken during our second night there about seven minutes before the photograph of The Photographer<\/a> that I posted the other day.<\/p>\n

I enjoy photographing sunsets by pointing the camera directly into the setting sun, usually trying to capture a sunburst. This time though, following a recommendation from one of my fellow photographers, I pointed my camera in the other direction to capture the sun rays bouncing off the clouds. The palette\u00a0of pastel colors combined with the leading lines and the reflection off the bay was great. I particularly worked on framing the large “X” that is formed by the clouds and the reflection in the water. I liked how the tree on the right, the grasses on the middle and the long pier dissected\u00a0the photo through the center. The two large “V’s” that form the “X” also point to the grassy area which I wanted to highlight. I was very pleased with the recommendation and the overall composition.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Sony A7R II<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Sony FE 24-70mm f\/4 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 27 mm. The camera was set on Aperture priority<\/a> with the aperture set at f\/11, shutter speed at 2 seconds and the ISO set at 50. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
