I was out running errands the other day when I spotted the pair. I decided to turn around, get my camera gear and do a drive-by to photograph them. Unfortunately, one flew away so I was only able to photograph one of them. All the lights were green so I could not stop and take the photo like I had planned (those lights are always red!!!). So, I had to do a couple of loops before I got the opportunity to photograph this great bird.

The Red-tailed Hawk is probably the most common hawk in North America. They are not hard to spot as they tend to hang around above open fields and many of them sit atop telephone poles (as was the case with this one below) looking for their next prey. I’m truly fascinated by these awesome birds.

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="6341" data-permalink="https://tkahler.com/blog/2016/02/hawk/red-tailed-hawk-mopac-highway/" data-orig-file="https://tkahler.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/20160129-MoPac-Hawk-012.jpg" data-orig-size="1000,1500" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"6.3","credit":"Terry B.
