Earlier this week I set out with a friend to scout some photography opportunities in downtown Austin and to pick one for a sunset photo opportunity. There were no clouds in the sky so we figured it would probably be more of a scouting opportunity than anything else. \u00a0After reviewing 5 or 6 sites we decided to shoot the Austin skyline at dusk from the pond<\/a> behind the Palmer Events Center<\/a>. We thought that the skyline reflecting in the pond would give us a good composition. I have taken a few photographs<\/a> from this location but not of the skyline. Other than no clouds, it was a perfect night for shooting the skyline from that location. The winds were light and the water was smooth. As a result, we were able to get a good reflection. The color you see behind the skyline\u00a0is the haze that surrounds the city at this time of year. \u00a0Probably mostly “cedar pollen”. Although ATX stands for many \u00a0things, people in the Austin area refer to Austin as ATX (Austin, TX). People in Austin also use ATX to denote special Events (e.g. ATX Television Festival, ATX Music, ATX Sports, etc.). A search for ATX on Google will reveal hundreds of organizations and events that use it in their name or product. So, the next time you hear ATX, think of Austin, Texas!<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my Sony A7R II<\/a>\u00a0using my Sony FE 16-35mm f\/4 Lens<\/a> set on 23 mm. The camera was set on Aperture priority<\/a> mode with the aperture set at f\/22 (to minimize\u00a0water\u00a0ripples), shutter speed at 1\/5th of a second and the ISO set at 100. This image was created by using 5 bracketed images (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2) and brought together using Photomatix Pro. Final processing was done in Photoshop and Lightroom.<\/p>\n
