I was there to attend a wedding and it coincided with my rekindled interest in photography (for about the 10th time). \u00a0This time, however, it stuck and I&#8217;ve been doing something related to photography daily (especially now that I have a daily blog). It was during a drive\u00a0in\u00a0the northwest side of the island that\u00a0I encountered this small church. It did\u00a0not appear that it was\u00a0an active church since the inside of the church was in bad shape. \u00a0What caught my attention was the vibrant colors and how well the green paint coordinated\u00a0with the red tile roof.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kahakuloa,_Hawaii\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kahakuloa<\/a>, Hawaii, is a very small town on the northern side of Maui. There is not much there but a couple of churches, banana bread stands and a gallery. The most important historical event was that one of Maui&#8217;s rulers,\u00a0Kahekili, son of Kekaulike Kalani-nui-Kui-Hono-i-Kamoku (say that three times real fast), would jump from nearby\u00a0Kahakuloa Head, 200 feet into the ocean each morning before breakfast. \u00a0There is a spot there named after him (&#8220;Kahekili&#8217;s Leap&#8221;).
