This is another image of the same Western Honey Bee<\/a> (also known as European Honey Bee) that was part of my “Western<\/a>” post the other day. \u00a0I titled this one “Golden” due to the golden hues of the plant and the bee. As I mentioned in that post, the bees were feasting on the nectar produced by these Sunflower Goldeneye flowers. This image does a better job of showing how these bees collect pollen and fly around pollinating other plants. I also think this image does a better job of showing the details of the bee including its wings, hairs and antenna.<\/p>\n

I thought it would be useful to show you how much pollen accumulates on these bees. \u00a0The image below shows the pollen accumulated on the torso and legs.<\/p>\n

Western Honey Bee Detail<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III<\/a> using my Canon EF 180mm f\/3.5L Macro Lens<\/a>. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/16, shutter speed at 1\/160 with the ISO set at 100. As was the case in the other image, I used my\u00a0Canon MT-24 Twin Flash<\/a>\u00a0to light the subject and a tripod to hold my rig steady. All processing was done in Lightroom.<\/p>\n
