I’m always impressed by those hallowed grounds and by the number of gravesites for those people who sacrificed their lives for our country and to protect our way of life. I’m eternally grateful for their sacrifice.

I decided that for this trip I would shoot black and white film. I shot both 35mm and medium-format film. As I walked around the cemetery I ran across a whitewashed building and noticed a white doorway and black lamp. What a perfect scene for a black and white photographer. I don’t recall which building this was but I recall it being a chapel near the back of the facility.

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="1671" data-permalink="https://tkahler.com/blog/2015/09/door/arlington-cemetery-door/" data-orig-file="https://tkahler.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/200507-Washington-DC-085-2.jpg" data-orig-size="892,1500" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"0","credit":"Terry B.
