I posted an image yesterday of a doorway<\/a>\u00a0on Alcatraz Island. \u00a0While writing that post I was reminded of a doorway that I captured while visiting the\u00a0Arlington National Cemetery<\/a> during the summer of 2005. I’m always impressed by those hallowed grounds and by the number of gravesites for those\u00a0people who sacrificed their lives for our country and to protect our way of life. I’m eternally grateful for their sacrifice.<\/p>\n

I decided that for this trip I would shoot black and white film. I shot both 35mm and medium-format film. As I walked around the cemetery I ran across a whitewashed building and noticed a\u00a0white doorway and black lamp. What a perfect scene for a black and white photographer. I don’t recall which building this was but I recall it being a chapel near the back of the facility.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my Canon A2E and my Canon\u00a0EF 28-70mm f\/2.8L II USM Lens<\/a> set on 50mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode\u00a0but I did not record all the settings. The film was Kodak T-Max 100 and it was developed in my new darkroom. A real darkroom vs. the laundry closet in my apartment.<\/p>\n
