Indian Blanket (Gaillardia pulchella) is one of my favorite Texas Wildflowers. It’s also known as Firewheel. It grows in the late spring and early summer and is one of the more colorful wildflowers in this area. I was recovering from knee surgery in late May and decided to go for a short walk to see if I could find some good specimens. \u00a0I found this one across the street. Since I could not kneel down to shoot I decided to bring it into my studio and use my light box instead. This allowed me to control the lighting and to reduce wind movement.<\/p>\n

Indian Blanket<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III<\/a> using my EF100mm f\/2.8L Macro IS USM set on 100 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/8, and shutter speed at 1\/20 at ISO 100. This is a focus-stacked image. \u00a0I used a total of 10 images and brought them together using Helicon Focus. Final processing was done in Photoshop and Lightroom.<\/p>\n
