I made a trip to Coral Gables Florida in February of 2105 to attend a wedding. I took advantage of the trip to practice my photography, eat some local cuisine and experience the Latin American culture only found in the Miami area. \u00a0Of special interest to me was how Coral Gables was founded. The city is a planned community developed\u00a0by George Merrick during the boom of the 1920’s. The architecture in the city is closely regulated.\u00a0Many of the buildings have a Mediterranean style and some\u00a0structures have a weather vane modeled after the\u00a0Giralda Tower<\/a> in Seville, Spain.\u00a0Among the landmarks in Coral Gables are the University of Miami, Venetian Pool, Douglas Entrance, the Biltmore Hotel, and many fine residences and restaurants.<\/p>\n

The image below is\u00a0a reflection of the Alhambra Towers<\/a> near the downtown area. This magnificent building has the Giralda weather vane and an\u00a0amazing interior. I took it one day during one of my many walks through downtown Coral Gables. I thought the sky, the tower and the palm tree made a good composition agains the glass tiles and the lines they formed.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my SONY DSC-RX100M3 pocket camera which is outfitted with a 24-70mm F1.8-2.8 which I set on 26 mm. The camera was set on Aperture priority mode with the aperture set at f\/2.8, shutter speed at 1\/100 at ISO 125. I processed the image in Lightroom. I am my worst critic so I have identified two things I would do over again. First, I should\u00a0have done a better job of making sure that the \u00a0weather vane was more visible in the reflection and second that the palm tree was\u00a0more in the center of the image. I was so fixated on making sure the lines in the windows all lined up that I neglected these two details. So, the lesson here is to stop and make sure that the entire composition is complete prior to snapping the shutter…<\/p>\n
