I stopped near Maverick Junction which is located on the western section of the park near the entrance. The weather has been dry and hot but this area received a bit of rain before my arrival. As a result, the Ocotillos were flowering and this one proved to be a great specimen to photograph against the sunset. This year is one of the dryest years since I have been visiting the park. The plants in the park are in protection mode. Even the Yuccas were conserving moister as their leaves were turning yellow. The camera was set on\u00a0Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/13, shutter speed at 1\/125th of a second, and ISO set at 800. I used a tripod for stability.
