There is an area between Austin, San Antonio and Houston that was settled by German and Czech immigrants around the turn of the century. This area is home to\u00a0the Painted Churches of Texas<\/a>. The towns of Schulemberg,\u00a0High Hill, Ammannsville, Dubina, Shiner & Praha are some of the cities that are home to these fantastic structures. \u00a0This group of churches earn\u00a0their name from their faux-finished interiors. \u00a0The very ornate interiors rival the decor of churches in larger communities. \u00a0Most are over 100 years old and the decor looks as fresh today as it did in their early years. \u00a0I had the opportunity to visit these magnificent structures in 2013. \u00a0I highly recommend visiting these churches if in the area. \u00a0Most are open and available to visitors 7-days per week. \u00a0Go on a Monday or Tuesday when they are vacant.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my Canon EOS 5D Mark III using my EF24-105mm f\/4L IS USM set on 24 mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/7.1, shutter speed at 1\/100 at ISO 100. \u00a0This image was a blend of 3 bracketed images (-2, 0, +2) and processed using the HDR technique. \u00a0I used Photomatix to blend the images and finalized my work in Adobe Photoshop.<\/p>\n
