{"id":1994,"date":"2015-08-02T04:00:28","date_gmt":"2015-08-02T09:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/?p=1994"},"modified":"2023-04-06T20:36:54","modified_gmt":"2023-04-07T01:36:54","slug":"spider-spider-on-the-flower","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/2015\/08\/spider-spider-on-the-flower\/","title":{"rendered":"Spider, Spider on the Flower!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I began taking Texas Wildflower photographs in the winter of 2015, following a discussion with some of my photography friends. \u00a0At first, I did not think that I would be interested in &#8220;taking pictures of flowers&#8221;, but, it was fun and intriguing. Not only did it require a completely different set of photography skills (and equipment) but it also had a scientific element to it that I really enjoyed. \u00a0It&#8217;s not enough to take a photograph of a flower but you must identify it. \u00a0That requires knowledge and a good deal of book and online research. \u00a0Although most of my wildflower photos are taken in a natural setting, there are times when the conditions are less than ideal for wildflower photography. \u00a0So, I built a light box in my studio. \u00a0I use it to bring the plants indoors and capture images in a controlled setting. \u00a0I was taking a photograph of this Purple Horsemint (Monarda citriodora and a member of the Mint Family) in my light box for my Texas Wildflower image collection when I spotted a tiny crab spider. \u00a0He was quite active but finally settled down long enough for me to capture this image. \u00a0I posted a story a couple of weeks ago about my encounter with this crab spider.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkahler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/20150601-Purple-Horsemint-5-B-Edit1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"1938\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/2015\/08\/spider-spider-on-the-flower\/purple-horsemint-wspider\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/20150601-Purple-Horsemint-5-B-Edit1.jpg\" data-orig-size=\"1002,1500\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;8&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;Terry B.
