It was a 6-mile snowshoe hike from the Old Faithful Snow Lodge which is located near the famous Old Faithful Geyser. The area is home to some very colorful hydrothermal features including Sapphire Pool which is the origin of the &#8220;biscuits&#8221; that gave the area its name. Unfortunately, the &#8220;biscuits&#8221; were blown away when an earthquake hit the area and caused the Saphire Pool to erupt violently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are staying in the Old Faithful area I recommend this hike and a return through the alternate route which takes you through a woody area. If going in the winter, be sure to rent snowshoes. The camera was set on&nbsp;Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/11 to achieve a nice starburst, shutter speed at 1\/500th of a second, and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for this photo.
