I took multiple opportunities during the trip to venture out and take some photographs. I was specifically looking for some rocky beaches to take some ocean shots. There are not that many rocky beaches in Florida! I did manage to find a place near Port St Lucie called Stuart Rocks. It\u2019s a very popular place for surfers. There were definitely rocks there. To me, they appeared to be volcanic in nature. I was very amazed with how porous they were. I also had the opportunity to visit various botanical gardens and to shoot the Miami skyline. Unfortunately, the skies were not that interesting for my Miami Skyline sunrise shots. But, I did learn quite a bit about long exposure photography. \u00a0The botanical gardens were great. \u00a0Of particular interest was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairchildgarden.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fairchild Botanical Garden<\/a> in Miami. \u00a0Very enjoyable place. \u00a0Lots of flowers and wildlife. \u00a0It was there I met my friend the Egret. \u00a0I think it was set on being a model as it followed me around and seem to pose for me. \u00a0So, I took quite a few shots and landed on this one as my best one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkahler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/20150327-Fairchild-Botanical-Garden-092.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"1695\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/2015\/07\/egret-at-the-fairchild-botanical-garden\/egrit-at-the-fairchild-botanical-garden\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/20150327-Fairchild-Botanical-Garden-092.jpg\" data-orig-size=\"1500,1000\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;4.5&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;Terry B. The camera was set on Aperture priority mode with the aperture set at f\/4.5, shutter speed at 1\/125 at ISO 100. \u00a0I used this manual lens specifically to get a great <a href=\"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/?glossary=bokeh\">bokeh<\/a>. \u00a0In short, bokeh is a term used to describe the blur that is produced in the out of focus parts of the image. \u00a0There is good and bad bokeh. \u00a0Different lenses produce better or worse results.<\/p>\n<p>Please use the section below to post your comments, questions or suggestions.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9 2015 Terry Kahler<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made a trip to Miami in March of 2015.
