A panorama of the Lower Geyser Basin with a dead tree, a probable victim of the Yellowstone toxic environment. I pass this tree and scene each time I take a walk along the Fountain Paint Pot Trail in Yellowstone National Park. The scene is quite serene and I often think about what the early settlers though about this amazing area.<\/p>\n

The most visited thermal area in the Lower Geyser Basin is the area known as the Fountain Group. It is located at the edge of Fountain Flats on the west side of the road. From the parking area, 0.5 miles of boardwalk trails pass a sizeable assortment of geysers and springs at the edge of quite a large barren region of deposited minerals and very little vegetation. This is where I found the dead tree. In the distance is Tangled Creek<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5D Mark IV<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 16-35mm f\/4 Lens<\/a> set on 22 mm. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/11, shutter speed at 1\/100th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I used a tripod for stability and my polarizer filter to enhance the sky. This is a series of four photographs combined into a single image using Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
