A coyote posing along the Grand Loop Road near Obsidian Creek in Yellowstone National Park. We encountered this coyote during one of our day trips with the photography group I was with. The coyote was walking along the road and it stoped to check out its surroundings when I photographed it. What an amazing animal.<\/p>\n

The Yellowstone coyotes are among the biggest in the United States, frequently weighing up to 30 pounds and occasionally growing to 40 pounds. The animal stands roughly two feet tall, making it easily distinguishable from its much larger relative, the gray wolf. As I mentioned previously, many people confuse coyotes for wolves.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 7D Mark II<\/a> using a Canon EF 600mm f\/4 IS Mark III that I rented from LensRentals. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/5.6, shutter speed at 1\/1000th of a second and the ISO set at 320. I hand-held the camera for this image. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
