The American Bison I photographed and posted last month, turned down the road we were on and started walking towards our group. What an amazing animial. I was able to caputre this photo of him in motion. I don’t understand why people think it’s a good idea to try and get selfies with American Bison. I’m glad I had a long lens to capture this photo.<\/p>\n

Most of the time the animals in the park pay little attention to humans and cars. They will sometimes come within five feet of vehicles. That said, Bison have injured more people than any other animal at Yellowstone. Last year, a nine-year-old girl was tossed into the air by a Bison. While we were visiting the park earlier this month, a lady crosscountry skiing alone was attacked by a coyote on an open stretch of road. It happened just before we arrived at one of our stops. The rule is to stay at least 25-yards away from a bison and at least 100 yards away from a wolf or coyote.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 7D Mark II<\/a> using a Canon EF 600mm f\/4 IS Mark III that I rented from LensRentals. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/4, shutter speed at 1\/400th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I hand-held the camera for this image. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
