In my opinion, this is one of the best times to visit Yellowstone. The park averages about 4-million visitors annually and only 2% of those people visit the park during the winter months. It was during this visit when I photographed this Yellowstone Big Horn Sheep. We were traveling along the Northeast Entrance Road when we encountered a herd and we pulled over to photograph them. The creatures were far away. This is when the longer lenses pay off. I was most impressed by their ability to navigate the treacherous (for us) mountain cliffs.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m heading back to Yellowstone in a few days and I am looking forward to photographing the many things this amazing national park has to offer. Perhaps I will encounter more Yellowstone Big Horn Sheep. The camera was set on Aperture Priority mode with the aperture set at f\/5.6, shutter speed at 1\/2500th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for this image to improve stability.
