It almost appears to levitate above the ground but the reality is that the wiry stem is directly underneath the flower.<\/p>\n<p>This plant grows in Southern New Mexico, Western Texas and Northern Mexico. I have only spotted one flower in previous trips. The camera was set on Manual mode with the aperture set at f\/2.8, shutter speed at 1\/400th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability and my <a href=\"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/glossary\/kirk-fr-2-focusing-rail\/\">Kirk Focusing Rail<\/a> to obtain 11 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and the focus stacking technique.
