Other priorities, travel, and the lack of photography trips put me in a bit of a drought. Plus, it&#8217;s just too darn hot out there to go shooting. I did make it out to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center early yesterday morning with one of my photography friends. That is where I captured this Apache Plume Seedhead. I don&#8217;t often photograph the seeds that our Texas Wildflowers produce so I thought I would give it a shot (no pun intended).<\/p>\n<p>Apache Plume (Fallugia paradoxa) is one of our showiest native shrubs. Beginning in late spring and continuing through summer the plant blooms with single white flowers that set fluffy pink seed heads (this one has not turned yet). The Apache Plume is a drought resistant\/drought tolerant plant. The camera was set on Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/5.6, shutter speed at 1\/50th of a second and the ISO set at 400. I used a tripod for stability and my\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tkahler.com\/blog\/glossary\/kirk-fr-2-focusing-rail\/\">Kirk Focusing Rail<\/a>\u00a0to obtain 10 images which I brought together into one image using Photoshop and\u00a0the focus stacking technique.
