I was walking around the Old Faithful area of Yellowstone National Park when I saw a group of Bison feeding in the mist of one of the nearly thermal features. American Bison tend to hang around warm thermal areas during the winter months. Not only does it help them stay warm but the grasses are more accessible. Bison find it difficult to gain weight during the winter months due to the low nutritional value of the available food. Foraging is all about doing their best to survive the harsh winter months.<\/p>\n

Bison Feeding in the Mist<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 7D Mark II<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 100-400mm f\/4.5-5.6 II Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 400mm. The camera was set on Aperture Priority\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/11, shutter speed at 1\/1000th of a second and the ISO set at 400.\u00a0I hand-held the camera for this image. This is a single image processed in Lightroom and completed in Photoshop using Nik Silver Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
