A section of Tangled Creek near the Fountain Paint Pot Nature Trail in Yellowstone National Park. This photograph was taken a about a hundred feet north of the location where I captured the “Shadows in the Snow” photograph I posted last week. I was attracted by the “Bobby Sox Trees” and the golden colors of the grass.<\/p>\n

Bobby socks trees were named after the markings that are left on the dead lodgepole pines that grew near some hydrothermal areas. They look as if they are wearing bobby socks. The dead trees soak up the mineral-laden water. When the water evaporates, the minerals are left behind, turning the lower portion of the trees white. Fall turned the grasses a golden color, accentuating the scene.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 5D Mark IV<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 16-35 mm f\/4 Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 16mm. The camera was set on Manual\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/8, shutter speed at 1\/125th of a second and the ISO set at 100. I hand-held the camera for this image. This is a single image processed in Lightroom then finalized in Photoshop using Nik Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
