I have been busy with travel and a project lately so I have not been able to work much on my photography. I am also preparing for a winter photography workshop in Yellowstone National Park next month. As part of the preparation, I was reviewing some of my photographs from my last trip to the park. I ran across this photograph of a young Handsome Elk. It was taken along the Madison River on the western side of the park. Elk and American Bison congregate there in large numbers during the warmer months as it has an abundance of food and water.<\/p>\n

I look forward to photographing landscapes and wildlife with a winter scene. I have never photographed in below-freezing temperatures for long periods of time. I sure hope I have all the right gear and clothing to keep me warm and focused (no pun intended). Stay tuned for photos from my trip in the weeks ahead.<\/p>\n

This image was taken with my\u00a0Canon EOS 7D Mark II<\/a>\u00a0using my\u00a0Canon EF 100-400mm f\/4.5-5.6 II Lens<\/a>\u00a0set on 371mm. I used a\u00a0tripod for support. The camera was set on Aperture Priority\u00a0mode with the aperture set at f\/5.6, shutter speed at 1\/2500th of a second and the ISO set at 400. This is a single image processed in Lightroom then finalized in Photoshop using Color Efex Pro.<\/p>\n
